Ernst-Martin Barth Photography

"There is only you and your camera. The limitations in your photography are in yourself, for what we see is what we are" – Ernst Haas (1921 – 1986)

An amateur photographer for longer than I care to remember, I am for the most part concerned with photographing landscapes and places. However, I am not letting myself be limited by this. Anything that speaks to me, photographically, is worth exploring.

Earlier attempts at putting together a site of my own have been plagued by inflexible tools that have required too much time and effort to maintain. Finally, the good people at www.koken.me have come up with a brilliant tool that makes it really easy to build and keep updating these pages.

A word about the name of this site: Photography is, of course, all about light. But it is as much about shadows. No shadows, no light and vice versa. So what could be more natural than to be "In Praise of Shadows"?

 So, please, enjoy!

In Praise of Shadows

I always seem to linger
in quiet ill lit spaces
where the counterpoint
of shadows subtly plays
its mournful tune
on rays of fading sunlight.
In praise of shadows
I keep travelling
the darker paths
in search of light.

I also have a presence on the online photography community 500px.com. Click the link to see my work there.

This web site was put together using the amazing, and free, CMS (content management system) "KOKEN". Check it out at www.koken.me
